You have selected the perfect rental lehenga or saree. The color is majestic, the fit is tailored, but now comes the real challenge: accessorizing. The secret to a balanced ethnic look is pairing your jewellery to your neckline. Choosing the wrong scale or style can crowd your chest or clash with the embroidery. Read on to master neckline pairing.

1. Sweetheart and Scoop Necklines

Sweetheart and open scoop necklines expose a beautiful expanse of the collarbone. This is the absolute best frame for a choker necklace. A thick, statement kundan or polki choker sitting snugly around the neck leaves a balanced gap between the ornament and the dress border, creating a clean, high-fashion look.

2. Deep V-Necks and Plunging Cuts

A plunging V-neck naturally draws the eye downward. Instead of a round collar necklace, choose a long, layered necklace like a Panchlada (five-layered pearl chain) or a royal Rani Haar that drops gracefully down to the torso. This accentuates the plunge without cluttering the neckline.

3. High Necks, Collars, and Halters

If your choli features a Chinese collar, high neck, or halter-neck design, skip the necklace entirely. Wearing a neckpiece over embroidered collar fabrics looks cluttered and messy. Instead, shift all focus upwards by wearing heavy, statement earrings (like chandbalis or cascading jhumkas) and matching them with a statement cuff bracelet.

4. Boat Necklines

A boat neck cuts straight across the collarbone. Round collar necklaces that sit just below the collarbone work beautifully here. Alternatively, go for a completely clean look with just a dainty collar necklace and focus on rings and bracelets.

"Jewellery should never compete with your outfit; it should complete it. Harmonizing shapes and frames is the key to effortless elegance."
