Damage Policy

Ethnic outfits (lehengas, designer sarees, and stone-embellished cholis) are delicate pieces of heritage craft. This Damage Policy establishes a clear, transparent framework for evaluating outfit condition upon return and assessing potential deposit deductions.
01. Inspection Period
Upon return, the listing owner (or Shangaar hub admin) has exactly 48 hours to inspect the garment for stains, tears, alterations, or missing segments. If local pickup/drop-off is used, this inspection happens in person. Damage claims and deposit deductions must be negotiated and settled directly between the owner and the renter based on this transparent fee structure.
02. Damage Classification & Fee Structure
We divide condition variances into three distinct tiers:

| Tier 3: Major Damage | Cigarette burns, large tears/cuts in fabric, permanent grease/oil/ink stains, custom fitting alterations made by customer, missing designer waistbelt or heavy tassels. | Forfeiture of full Security Deposit (or replacement value) |
03. Alteration Restrictions
You are strictly **prohibited** from making any permanent sewing adjustments, cuts, or safety-pin alterations that damage or puncture the fabric weave. Temporary running stitch fittings (which can be easily removed without leaving marks or tearing threads) are allowed only after getting written confirmation from the listing owner in the order chat thread.
04. Lost or Unreturned Garments
If an outfit is lost, stolen, or not returned within 7 days after the end_date without communication:
- The outfit is marked as stolen.
- The entire Security Deposit is immediately forfeited to the owner.
- The owner reserves the right to pursue legal recovery mechanisms for the remaining replacement value.
